  In the use of glass wool in construction, the surface often has to be attached with some sound-transmitting decorative surface, such as plastic film less than 0.5mm, metal mesh, window screen, fire-proof cloth, glass silk cloth, etc., which can basically maintain the original sound absorption characteristics. Glass wool is one of the commonly used materials for building sound absorption due to its excellent properties of fire protection, heat preservation and easy cutting. However, because the glass wool surface is not decorative, and there will be fiber sprinkled, it must be made into a variety of sound absorption components for covert use. Usually used and inexpensive structure is the suspended ceiling of perforated paper gypsum board or the perforated board wall filled with centrifugal glass wool. When the perforation rate is more than 20%, the centrifugal glass wool absorbs sound completely. In order to prevent the fiberglass from spilling out, it is necessary to attach a layer of non-woven fabric, mulberry paper and other sound-transmitting fabric behind the perforated board, or wrap the fiberglass with glass cloth and plastic film. Similar to perforated paper gypsum board, there are perforated metal board (such as aluminium board), perforated wood board, perforated fibre cement board, perforated mineral wool board and so on.
  Glass wool board can be made into sound absorption ceiling or absorption after treatment. It is common to enclose fireproof and sound transmission fabric around 80-120 kg/m3 glass wool board after glue curing to form sound absorption wall panels which are beautiful and easy to install. The common sizes are 1.2m *1.2m, 1.2m *0.6m, 0.6m *0.6m, and the thickness is 2.5cm or 5cm. There are also sound-absorbing ceiling panels formed by directly spraying sound-transmitting decorative materials on the surface of 110 Kg/m3 glass wool. Whether it is glass wool sound-absorbing wall panels or sound-absorbing ceiling panels, we need to use high volume weight glass wool, and after a certain degree of strengthening treatment, to prevent the deformation of the board or too soft. This kind of building materials not only have good decoration, but also retain good sound absorption characteristics of centrifugal glass wool. The noise reduction coefficient NRC can generally reach more than 0.85. In gymnasium, workshop and other large space, in order to absorb sound and reduce noise, centrifugal glass wool is often used as the main sound absorption material. Sound absorber can be made into plate, column, cone or other special-shaped body according to requirements. The inner part of the absorber is filled with centrifugal glass wool, and the surface is wrapped with a sound transmission surface layer. Because the sound absorber has many surfaces, the sound absorption efficiency is very high. In the road noise barrier, in order to prevent noise reflection, it is necessary to take sound absorption measures on the side facing the vehicle. Centrifugal glass wool is often used as filling material and the surface layer is perforated metal plate. In order to prevent glass wool from absorbing moisture outdoors, sometimes it is wrapped with PVC or plastic film.
